In a heartbreaking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a college student tragically drowned at the Ganga ghat in Uttarpara. The victim, identified as Kishanji Seth, was a resident of Titagarh and a student at Barasat Brainware University. The incident has raised concerns about safety measures at popular swimming spots.
According to local sources, kishanji was seen sitting by the college ghat on Monday afternoon before he ventured into the river for a swim. Hours passed without any sign of him resurfacing, prompting concerned onlookers to alert the Uttarpara police. upon arrival, the police initiated a rescue operation, but as evening fell and there was still no trace of the student, they escalated the situation by notifying the North Port police.
By around 8:30 PM, members of the disaster management team arrived on the scene and resumed the search efforts in the Ganga. Tragically, they recovered Kishanji’s body by 10 PM.The police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with swimming in open waters,especially in areas that may lack adequate safety measures.
