After enjoying the warmth of their maternal home for eight days, the deities Jagannath,Balram, and Subhadra returned to the temple in Digha on Saturday. The atmosphere in this coastal town was festive from the morning, with a significant influx of visitors from various districts. Security measures were tight to manage the crowd, ensuring a smooth experiance for all attendees.
While several ministers and legislators from the state were present for the Ulto Rath ceremony, the Chief Minister was notably absent. Just a week prior, the Chief Minister had inaugurated the event by pulling the chariot for the first time in Digha. After offering the customary Rajbhog at noon, the deities departed their maternal home around 2 PM, adorned in royal attire. Upon reaching the main temple in Digha, rituals were performed, and according to tradition, the three siblings will remain on the chariot for three days, continuing the sacred observances. Meanwhile, in salt lake, the new state president of the BJP, Shamik Bhattacharya, also participated by pulling the chariot’s rope, adding to the festive spirit of the day.
