New AC Temperature regulations: A Step Towards Energy Efficiency
In a notable move aimed at reducing energy consumption, the Indian government is set too implement new regulations that will limit air conditioning temperatures. According to Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, air conditioners must now operate within a range of 20 to 28 degrees Celsius. This initiative is not just for homes and offices; it will also apply to vehicle air conditioning systems, marking a comprehensive approach to energy conservation.
The government believes that these regulations will lead to a substantial decrease in electricity wastage, ultimately lowering electricity bills for consumers. This policy will be enforced across all states and will encompass residential, commercial, and transportation sectors, including buses, trains, and private vehicles. As temperatures soar during the summer months, this regulation aims to strike a balance between comfort and sustainability, encouraging citizens to adopt more energy-efficient practices while also promoting health benefits associated with moderate cooling. The move reflects a growing awareness of the need for responsible energy use in a rapidly changing climate.
