The 126th birth anniversary of the renowned rebel poet,kazi Nazrul Islam,was celebrated in his birthplace,Churulia,with a vibrant festival that kicked off with a grand procession. This year also marks the 45th Nazrul Mela, transforming Churulia into a hub of cultural festivities.
The village was adorned for the occasion, with a colorful parade winding through its streets.Shantanu Banerjee,a professor at Kazi Nazrul University and a member of the festival committee,announced that various cultural programs would unfold over the next five days. However,there have been allegations that members of the poet’s family were not invited to the celebrations,raising eyebrows among locals. In response to these claims, Banerjee clarified that thay had indeed invited the villagers and the general public through advertisements in the media, aiming to foster a sense of community and inclusivity during this significant event.
