Gujarat Administration Requests DNA Samples too Identify Victims of Air India Crash
In the wake of a tragic air disaster involving Air India flight AI171, the Gujarat administration has urgently requested DNA samples from families of the victims to facilitate the identification of the deceased. The Assistant Chief Secretary of Gujarat’s Health Department, Dhananjay Dwivedi, confirmed that the BJ medical College in Ahmedabad is coordinating this effort, emphasizing the need for swift identification of the bodies.
During a press briefing, Dwivedi revealed that the ill-fated flight was carrying 230 passengers along with 12 crew members when it met with disaster shortly after takeoff around 1:40 PM. The crash site, located near the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, has also seen important damage, with over 50 injured individuals being treated at the hospital. Families of those on board are being urged to visit BJ Medical College to provide DNA samples, which will expedite the identification process.Additionally, two helplines have been established for relatives seeking information about their loved ones, adn a designated waiting area has been set up at the medical college for families during this difficult time.
