In a notable ruling, the Supreme Court has firmly stated that individuals who secured jobs through rank manipulation will not be allowed too sit for the SSC recruitment examination again. This decision comes after a group of job seekers petitioned the court for another chance, arguing that they deserved a fair chance. However, the bench, comprising Justices Sanjay Kumar and K.V. Vishwanathan, upheld the previous ruling that invalidated their appointments due to corruption allegations. The Kolkata High Court had previously annulled the entire recruitment panel, citing serious misconduct. This ruling was challenged in the Supreme Court, but the apex court maintained the High Court’s decision, allowing only 26,000 eligible candidates to retake the examination. The board has since raised concerns about how schools in the state will function with such a significant number of job losses. In response, the supreme Court directed that teachers from Groups C and D continue their duties, while the affected job seekers have been protesting outside the Bikash Bhavan, demanding justice and clarity on their future.
