Ukraine and Russia Engage in Historic Prisoner Swap Amid Ongoing Conflict
In a significant development in the ongoing conflict, Ukraine and Russia have executed their largest prisoner exchange sence the onset of full-scale war in 2022. Each side returned 390 individuals, comprising both military personnel and civilians, in a carefully negotiated agreement finalized in Istanbul just a week prior. These individuals are currently in Belarus and will be transported to Russia for medical care.Ukrainian President volodymyr Zelensky took to social media to express his relief, stating that they are bringing their people home. The released soldiers hailed from various regions, including Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv, with some having been detained since 2022. Notably, three women were among those freed, highlighting the diverse backgrounds of the captives.
