In a heartbreaking incident at Rabindra Sarobar,a 16-year-old boy named Shivam Singh drowned while swimming in the lake. Reports indicate that he became trapped in submerged weeds,preventing him from resurfacing despite desperate attempts to escape. This tragedy has raised serious concerns about safety and maintenance at public swimming areas.Shivam, a resident of Ballygunge Place in Gariahat, was swimming with two friends when the accident occurred. One friend, Nikhil, managed to exit the water after hearing local warnings, while another, Abhishek, was also struggling to stay afloat.Fortunately, he was rescued by nearby swimmers and locals.Eyewitnesses noted that Shivam disappeared from sight just moments after entering the water. After extensive efforts to retrieve him, he was taken to M.R. Bangur Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
