On Saturday alone, 14 fatalities where reported due to multiple landslides and heavy rainfall, which have severely damaged crucial infrastructure. Repair efforts are hampered by ongoing adverse weather conditions, leaving many tourists stranded in various locations.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for extensive areas of Assam and a yellow alert for the rest of the Northeast,indicating that the rains are expected to continue.In Arunachal Pradesh, nine people lost their lives on Saturday due to a landslide that struck a vehicle traveling on the road in East Kameng.Local sources report that the road collapsed suddenly, sending the car tumbling into a deep gorge. As the region grapples with these challenges, the community’s resilience will be tested in the face of nature’s fury.
