Trinamool Congress Delegation Meets Omar Abdullah: Assessing the Aftermath of the Pahalgam Incident
In the wake of the recent Pahalgam incident and escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan, a five-member delegation from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) met with Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The discussions, lasting nearly an hour and a half, focused on the dire situation in the region, particularly the impact of cross-border shelling that has left many families devastated.
Manas bhunia, a key member of the delegation and a state minister, expressed deep concern over the casualties, noting that 26 individuals from various communities have lost their lives due to the ongoing violence in Poonch and Rajouri. The TMC delegation is on a three-day visit to Kashmir, aiming to extend condolences to the bereaved families.They plan to visit Rajouri on Friday after their trip to Poonch. Bhunia emphasized the importance of understanding the local sentiment post-Pahalgam, stating that the ruling party in West Bengal felt compelled to send a team to gauge the situation firsthand.the delegation, which includes prominent figures like Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien and Sagarika Ghosh, aims to compile a report for the Chief Minister upon their return, shedding light on the pressing issues faced by the people of Kashmir.
