in the wake of violent clashes in Murshidabad and Maheshtala, the political atmosphere in West Bengal has become increasingly charged. The BJP has raised concerns in the state assembly, demanding accountability and action from the government. Led by Suvendu Adhikari, BJP lawmakers staged a protest, highlighting their grievances and pressing for immediate intervention.
The assembly session took a dramatic turn when the Speaker dismissed the BJP’s call for discussion on the incidents. This prompted Adhikari and his colleagues to take their protest to the streets, carrying a tulsi plant as a symbol of their dissent. After nearly 50 minutes of demonstration, they marched to the Raj Bhavan to voice their concerns directly to the Governor. Adhikari outlined four key demands, including the deployment of paramilitary forces in the Diamond Harbour police district and Metiabruz, and also the arrest of Mukul Miah, an IC from Rabindranagar. he also called for adequate compensation for those affected by the violence.
The BJP’s actions reflect a growing frustration with the state government’s handling of law and order issues, especially in light of recent events that have left communities shaken. As political tensions escalate, the demand for justice and accountability resonates deeply with the public, underscoring the urgent need for effective governance in West Bengal.
