Allegations of Voter List Manipulation: Suvendu Adhikari Calls for CBI Investigation Against TMC
In a notable political advancement, Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, has lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) over alleged voter list manipulation. Adhikari claims that TMC leaders in Kakdwip are involved in a scheme to insert names of Bangladeshi nationals into the voter list in exchange for money. He has called for a Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) probe into the matter, asserting that local administrative officials are complicit in this alleged corruption.
Adhikari’s accusations extend beyond Kakdwip, suggesting that similar practices are occurring in various districts across the state. He has raised concerns about the impartiality of local officials, including the District Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Officer, claiming they are favoring TMC’s agenda.”If such a massive corruption scheme is at play, why is the state police only filing FIRs instead of taking more decisive action?” he questioned. He emphasized that this is not just a local issue but a national concern, urging the Election Commission, as an autonomous body, to take proactive measures rather than waiting for complaints to surface.
