In a shocking incident that underscores the rising tensions within political circles, a BJP booth president, Ramprasad Shikdar, was brutally attacked outside the residence of local MLA Swapan Majumdar in Bongaon South. The altercation, reportedly stemming from a land dispute, has left Shikdar in critical condition and has raised serious questions about political violence in the region.
The conflict erupted over a land-sharing agreement between Shikdar and another BJP worker, palash Dhaly. Both men had been involved in a dispute regarding the profits from shared agricultural land.On Friday, Shikdar visited Majumdar’s home to seek resolution, but tensions escalated when Dhaly arrived shortly after.Allegations suggest that Dhaly attacked Shikdar with a machete, leaving him severely injured. He was first rushed to the local Pallah rural Hospital and later transferred to Bongaon Sub-Divisional Hospital for further treatment.
Local police from the Gopalnagar station responded promptly to the scene, although Majumdar claimed he was not present at the time of the incident. This violent episode not only highlights the personal conflicts that can arise within political factions but also raises concerns about the safety of political workers in West Bengal. As the inquiry unfolds, the community watches closely, hoping for justice and a return to peace in their neighborhood.
