BSF Jawan Purnam Kumar Returns Home After 21 Days in Pakistan Custody
After nearly a month of uncertainty, BSF Jawan Purnam Kumar Sahu has finally returned home, bringing immense relief to his family in Rishra. His wife, Rajani, had been anxiously waiting for his return since he was captured by Pakistani Rangers on April 23, just a day after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The family had been living in a state of despair, neglecting their daily routines as they awaited news of his fate.
On May 14, under pressure from India, Purnam was released and crossed back into India through the Wagah-Attari border. The news of his return has filled the Sahu household with joy,as their son eagerly awaits to play with his father.Purnam was mistakenly apprehended while crossing the border, and during his captivity, Rajani even visited the BSF headquarters, hoping for her husband’s safe return. The situation escalated when India conducted Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan on May 7, leading to heightened tensions between the two nations. At one point, Rajani had lost hope of seeing her husband again, but ultimately, Pakistan was compelled to relent under India’s diplomatic pressure.
