In a tragic turn of events, a memorial service held for the recently deceased MLA Tapas Saha in Tehatta turned violent, resulting in injuries to at least 11 individuals. The gathering, organized by the Trinamool Congress at Shahabuddin High School, was intended to honor Saha’s memory but quickly escalated into chaos as factions within the party clashed over the ceremonial garlanding of the late leader’s photograph.
Witnesses reported that tensions flared between the groups led by local leaders Munaj Mandal and Nazim Mandal, leading to a physical confrontation. The altercation left several attendees injured, with some requiring urgent medical attention at the Krishnanagar District Hospital. Among the injured, the condition of one individual, identified as Gosen Gain, is reported to be critical. This incident highlights the ongoing factionalism within the Trinamool Congress, raising concerns about unity and decorum in the wake of a leader’s passing.
