Veteran Bengali Director Partho Ghosh passes Away at 75
In a heartbreaking turn of events, renowned Bengali director Partho Ghosh has passed away at the age of 75 due to a heart attack at his residence in Mumbai. The news was shared by actress Rituparna Sengupta, who expressed her sorrow over the sudden loss of a beloved figure in the film industry.
On Monday morning, Ghosh felt unwell and decided to take a walk in his garden for some fresh air. Unluckily, he experienced chest discomfort and was initially taken to one hospital, but tragically succumbed to his condition while being transferred to another.His wife is devastated by the loss, as the couple had no children. Rituparna described Ghosh as a humble and gentle soul who shunned the limelight despite his numerous triumphant films.He was a grounded individual who made significant contributions to the film industry, especially in the 1990s, directing hits like “Agnisakshi,” which starred Manisha Koirala, Jackie shroff, and Nana patekar. This film not only achieved commercial success but is also regarded as a significant work in Hindi cinema. Another notable film, “Ghulam-e-Mustafa,” featured Raveena tandon and Nana Patekar, further solidifying his reputation.
Interestingly, it was under Ghosh’s direction that Rituparna made her debut in Hindi cinema with “Tisra Kaun” in 1994. Recently, he had plans to work on sequels for “Agnisakshi” and “Hundred Days,” showcasing his enduring passion for filmmaking. his sudden departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, reminding us of the fragility of life and the impact of art on our lives.
