Tragic Incident in Panskura: Civic Volunteer Arrested After Teen’s Suicide
In a heartbreaking turn of events in Panskura, East Midnapore, a civic volunteer named Shubankar Dikhit has been arrested following the tragic suicide of a teenager. The arrest took place late Sunday night in kolaghat, bringing a wave of relief and sorrow to the grieving mother of the deceased boy, who had been anxiously awaiting justice.
The mother expressed her frustration over the delay in the arrest, stating that her faith in the police was waning. she is now demanding strict punishment for the accused. Police tracked Shubankar’s mobile location to a national highway area near Deuliya and apprehended him near the Jiyada bus stand. On Monday, he was presented in Tamluk district court, where the judge ordered 14 days of judicial custody. The incident unfolded about a week ago when the boy, a resident of Gosaibari village, visited Shubankar’s shop to buy chips. Finding no one present,he picked up a packet lying outside. Allegedly, Shubankar chased him down, accused him of theft, and publicly humiliated him by making him perform squats in front of a crowd. overwhelmed by shame, the boy returned home and took his own life, leaving behind a note insisting he had not stolen anything.
