Two years ago, “Raktabeej” made waves at the box office during the Puja festivities, and now the dynamic directing duo of Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee are gearing up to create another sensation with the sequel, “Raktabeej 2.” Set to release during the upcoming festive season, the film promises to deliver the same thrilling experience that captivated audiences in its predecessor.
The production team has already begun shooting in Thailand, with lead actors Mimi Chakraborty and Abir Chatterjee joining the crew. Notably,this marks the first time that a song from a Windows production will be filmed abroad,adding an exciting twist to the project. Two songs are set to be shot in Thailand, one featuring the romantic escapades of the police officer duo, Abir and Mimi, while the other will showcase Ankush and Kaushani, pivotal to the film’s narrative arc. The team commenced filming on June 3, and anticipation is high as fans eagerly await the surprises that Nandita and Shiboprosad have in store.
The original “Raktabeej” drew inspiration from the Khagragarh blast incident, and it remains to be seen what real-life event will be depicted in this sequel. With the first film achieving national acclaim, including praise for Victor Banerjee’s portrayal of former President Pranab Mukherjee, the stakes are high for “Raktabeej 2.” As the release date approaches, all eyes will be on the filmmakers to see how they will once again push the boundaries of Bengali cinema.
