In recent days, Kerala has been grappling with relentless rainfall, leading too severe flooding, particularly in the northern districts. Many residents have been evacuated to relief camps as the Indian Meteorological Department forecasts more rain until Tuesday.The search continues for nine fishermen missing in Vizhinjam, while numerous homes have been submerged, leaving families seeking refuge on higher ground.
Residents have abandoned their single-story homes, moving to second floors or relief camps. The situation is dire in districts like Kozhikode adn Kannur, where some locals are navigating the floodwaters in small boats. According to administrative sources, 46 relief camps have been established in Kottayam, with an additional 26 in Alappuzha. Meanwhile, Assam is also facing its own crisis, with flooding reported in six districts. The state’s disaster management department has confirmed five fatalities due to landslides in Kamrup. Areas such as Kamrup Metropolitan, Cachar, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, and Golaghat are experiencing the worst conditions. Over 10,000 people have been relocated to safety,with hopes for some enhancement in the weather by Sunday.
