Police Busts Fake Aadhaar Card Racket in Siliguri: Seven Arrested
In a meaningful crackdown, police in Siliguri have dismantled a fraudulent operation producing fake Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and even caste certificates. Acting on a tip-off, the Special Operations Group and Bhaktinagar police apprehended seven individuals involved in this illicit scheme, which was run from a photo studio owned by Chittaranjan Sarkar, located near the Dhakeshwari Temple.
The operation revealed a shocking network where these counterfeit documents were sold for as little as ₹5,000 to ₹10,000. Undercover officers posed as customers to expose the racket, leading to the recovery of a vast array of forged documents. Not only were fake Aadhaar and voter cards being produced, but also fraudulent caste certificates, all meticulously crafted to resemble official government paperwork. Alarmingly, this operation catered not just to Indian citizens but also provided documentation for Bangladeshi infiltrators. Authorities are now investigating the extent of this operation and the identities of those who received these counterfeit documents, raising serious concerns about national security and the integrity of identity verification processes in India.
