In Chuchura, the recent rains have left the Naladanga area submerged, with water flooding into numerous homes. Frustrated residents took to the streets on Wednesday morning, blocking the busy GT Road for nearly an hour and a half to voice their grievances. The protest caused notable traffic congestion, prompting police from the Chuchura station and Bandel outpost to respond. Some demonstrators even lay down in front of police vehicles, emphasizing their desperation for action.
Despite repeated complaints about drainage issues, residents feel their concerns have gone unaddressed. Local MLA Asit Majumdar had previously promised to resolve these drainage problems, but no tangible progress has been made. In response to the ongoing crisis, Bela Ghosh Majhi, the head of the Kodalia-2 gram Panchayat, visited the affected area to assess the situation. The MLA has assured residents that a solution will be forthcoming, but skepticism remains high among those enduring the flooding.
