In a significant escalation of violence, a fierce gunfight broke out in the Singpora area of Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, early Thursday morning. Reports indicate that a group of three to four terrorists was hiding in the region, prompting security forces to launch a targeted operation based on intelligence inputs. As the forces moved in, the situation quickly escalated into a full-blown firefight, with both sides exchanging heavy gunfire.
The area has been cordoned off as security personnel work diligently to neutralize the threat. This latest encounter follows a series of intensified counter-terrorism operations in the region, particularly after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. authorities have ramped up their efforts, conducting continuous searches in southern Kashmir to track potential terrorist movements. Notably, between May 13 and May 15, six terrorists were eliminated in separate operations in the Shopian and Pulwama districts, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
