In a shocking incident in Nadia’s Hanskhali area,a minor has alleged that she was gang-raped after being lured to a birthday party. The police have arrested five individuals in connection with this heinous crime. The victim claims that she was invited to a house in the Baghula area last Wednesday night under the pretense of celebrating a birthday, where the assault took place.
Following the arrests, the accused were presented in the Ranaghat sub-divisional court. To facilitate the examination, the Hanskhali police requested custody of two of the suspects, which the judge granted. The court ordered these two individuals to be held in police custody,while the other three were remanded to 14 days in judicial custody. Local CCTV footage from the house where the incident occurred has been secured, and the suspects’ mobile phones have been confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation. This case highlights the urgent need for societal change and stronger protective measures for vulnerable individuals.
