In a meaningful development in the ongoing battle against Maoist insurgency, Bhaskar, a prominent Maoist leader known as Mailaranu Adelu, was killed in a fierce gunfight with security forces in the Indravati national Park area of Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. With a bounty of ₹25 lakh on his head in Chhattisgarh and ₹20 lakh in Telangana, Bhaskar was a key member of the Telangana State Committee’s Special Zonal Committee. His death marks a crucial blow to the Maoist movement in the region.
According to police reports, the encounter occurred during a joint operation involving Chhattisgarh’s Special Task Force, District Reserve Guard, and the Central reserve Police Force’s Cobra unit. Inspector General of Bastar Range, Sundar Raj, confirmed that not only was Bhaskar killed, but a cache of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle and explosives, was also recovered from the site. This operation, which began last Wednesday, underscores the relentless efforts of security forces to dismantle Maoist strongholds in the area, reflecting a broader strategy to restore peace and stability in conflict-affected regions of India.
