In a heartbreaking incident from Panskura, a seventh-grade student tragically took his own life after being publicly humiliated over a false accusation of stealing chips. The young boy, Krishnendu, had gone out to buy snacks but found himself in a distressing situation that led to his untimely death. His family is now calling for justice, demanding accountability for those involved in this devastating event.
Krishnendu, a resident of the Gosai Bera area in East medinipur, had set out to buy chips but discovered that the store was out of stock. While returning home, he picked up a discarded packet of chips, which led to a confrontation with a civic volunteer, shubankar Dikhit.The volunteer accused him of theft and forced him to perform humiliating acts in front of a crowd, despite Krishnendu’s repeated denials. Reports suggest that he was also physically assaulted during this ordeal. After his mother intervened and took him home, Krishnendu locked himself in his room. His family later found him unconscious, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital, having reportedly consumed pesticide.
A suicide note was discovered,in which Krishnendu denied the theft allegations,leaving his family devastated. They are now advocating for severe punishment for the accused, highlighting the urgent need for sensitivity and accountability in such situations.
