Controversy Erupts as Sheikh Hasina Questions Muhammad yunus’ Wealth Amid Resignation Rumors
In a dramatic turn of events, former Prime Minister sheikh Hasina has launched a scathing audio attack on Muhammad Yunus, the former head of the caretaker government, as speculation mounts over his potential resignation. Hasina’s remarks raise critical questions about Yunus’s rapid accumulation of wealth, contrasting sharply with his humble beginnings as a managing director at Grameen Bank in 1990, where he earned a mere 6,000 Taka.
Hasina’s audio message directed at party workers challenges why the public does not question how Yunus transitioned from a modest salary too becoming a billionaire. She recounted how, during her government formation in 1996, Yunus approached her claiming a lack of funds at Grameen Bank, which he attributed to money being hidden under the guise of a welfare fund. At that time, he insisted on the need for financial support to provide microloans to the poor, leading her government to allocate an initial fund of 1 billion Taka, even amidst flooding conditions.Over time, this amount reportedly swelled to 4 billion taka, yet there appears to be no accountability for these funds, raising eyebrows and fueling public discontent.
