Indian Security Forces Capture Notorious Maoist Leader in Odisha
In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing battle against Maoist insurgency, Indian security forces have apprehended the infamous maoist leader Kunjam Hidma, also known as Mohan, during a joint operation in Koraput district, Odisha. This operation, involving local police and volunteer forces, not only led to the arrest of a key figure in the Maoist hierarchy but also resulted in the recovery of a considerable cache of weapons and Maoist paraphernalia.
During the operation, security personnel seized an AK-47, 35 rounds of ammunition, 117 detonators, gunpowder, a wireless radio, knives, and various Maoist literature. This haul underscores the ongoing threat posed by Maoist groups in the region. Just days prior, security forces had successfully eliminated another prominent Maoist leader, Nambala Keshav Rao, who had a bounty of ₹10 crore on his head. Despite these successes, many top Maoist leaders, including Madhvi Hidma, remain at large, highlighting the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing Maoist activities. The capture of Mohan marks a crucial step in the fight against this insurgency, but the road ahead remains fraught with danger and complexity.
