On June 9, a catastrophic explosion rocked the MV Wan Hai 503, a Singapore-flagged cargo ship, approximately 40 nautical miles off the Kerala coast. The vessel, measuring 270 meters in length, had set sail from Colombo, Sri Lanka, bound for Mumbai just two days prior. The incident has left four crew members missing and five others injured, prompting an immediate response from the Indian Navy.
The cause of the fire remains unclear, but reports indicate that the ship was carrying over 650 containers at the time of the explosion. In a swift reaction,the indian Navy dispatched the INS Subrat to the scene,while an aircraft from the Kochi naval base was also deployed to assist in the rescue efforts.
