Elon Musk Dismisses Uber Acquisition, promises Tesla’s own Autonomous Ride-Share Service
In a bold statement, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has made it clear that the company has no intention of acquiring ride-sharing giant Uber.Instead, Musk asserts that Tesla possesses all the necessary technology adn resources to launch its own autonomous ride-sharing service. This initiative will feature two types of self-driving vehicles: one owned by Tesla and another that allows regular users to rent out their personal cars through the tesla platform.
In a recent interview, Musk expressed confidence that Tesla owners could earn more by renting out their vehicles than they would pay in lease installments. After much anticipation, Tesla’s robotaxi service is set to launch in Austin, Texas, next month, utilizing its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Unsupervised software, which operates without a driver.This move positions Tesla to compete directly with existing services like Waymo, which is already operational in cities such as Phoenix, Austin, and Atlanta. Simultaneously occurring, Lyft is also planning to roll out its own autonomous vehicles in partnership with Mobileye and Moovit later this year. Tesla’s venture not only expands its business footprint but also opens up new revenue streams, possibly reshaping the future of urban transportation.
