Israel Strikes Yemen’s Sana’a Airport Amid Rising Tensions
In a notable escalation of hostilities, Israeli forces have launched airstrikes on Yemen’s capital, sana’a, targeting the airport just four months after a previous attack. The strikes, which involved multiple missiles, have reportedly damaged several aircraft and the runway, intensifying the ongoing conflict in the region. This military action comes in the wake of repeated missile and drone attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who have been targeting Israeli interests as the outbreak of violence in Gaza.
According to reports from Houthi-controlled Al-Masirah television, Israel fired four missiles at the airport, with one striking a Yemenia Airways passenger plane parked on the runway. Fortunately, there were no passengers or crew on board at the time.As November 2023, the Houthis have been launching consistent missile attacks from Yemen’s coast, targeting commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Israeli territory. This ongoing conflict has also seen Indian ships caught in the crossfire, highlighting the broader implications of this regional instability.
