Celebrating the Divine: Iman Chakraborty’s Grand Jagannath Festival
In a heartfelt party of devotion, renowned singer Iman Chakraborty hosted the Jagannath festival at her home in Lilua, marking the auspicious occasion of snana Yatra.This year, the festivities were attended by numerous guests, reflecting the vibrant spirit of the event. As 2014, Iman has embraced the blessings of Lord Jagannath, and her connection to the deity has only deepened over the years.
The festival holds a special importance for Iman, especially after the loss of her mother, which left an irreplaceable void in her life. Yet, she finds solace in the presence of lord Jagannath, whom she describes as a protective umbrella over her. For the past eight to nine years, Iman has been celebrating the Rath Yatra, beginning her preparations on Snana Yatra day. At her home, she has established a beautiful idol of Lord Jagannath, and despite being abroad during last year’s Rath Yatra, she continued her rituals from afar.Each year, she meticulously bathes the deities-Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra-with ghee, sandalwood, honey, milk, coconut water, and Ganges water, adorning them in new garments and offering food according to her means. this year, she adorned Lord Jagannath with a garland of rajnigandha flowers, adding a personal touch to the sacred occasion.
iman, donning a traditional gamcha, performed her prayers with deep reverence, sharing glimpses of the celebration on her social media. Her heartfelt prayer remains simple yet profound: may the blessings of Lord Jagannath shower upon everyone. This annual celebration not only highlights her devotion but also strengthens the bonds of community and faith,resonating with many who share in the joy of this divine festival.
