Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in Mumbai: Yellow Alert Issued
Mumbai, the bustling financial hub of India, is grappling with severe flooding due to relentless rainfall.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rains across central Maharashtra and the Konkan coast until June 2. This unprecedented downpour has raised concerns about waterlogging and disruptions in daily life.
Along with Mumbai,warnings have been issued for Thane,Pune,and Kolhapur,with thunderstorms expected to accompany the rainfall. The IMD has also raised orange alerts for Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Satara, indicating the potential for severe weather conditions. Remarkably, some areas in Mumbai recorded over 200 millimeters of rain from Sunday night to Monday afternoon, marking the heaviest May rainfall since 1918, according to weather records. As the city braces for more rain,residents are urged to stay vigilant and prepared for possible disruptions.
