Tragic Flooding in Texas: 24 Lives Lost as Guadalupe River Overflows
In a devastating turn of events, heavy rains have led to catastrophic flooding in Texas, claiming the lives of at least 24 individuals. The Guadalupe River surged dangerously high, particularly affecting areas near Kerrville and surrounding regions. As rescue operations unfold, concerns grow for the many still unaccounted for, including a group of schoolchildren who were attending a summer camp along the riverbank.
The search for the missing has intensified, with 23 children currently untraceable. Authorities fear they may have been swept away by the raging waters. Though, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has suggested that some may have found refuge in trees, complicating rescue efforts. Over 500 personnel have been deployed, utilizing 14 helicopters to aid in the search. Regrettably, the relentless downpours have hampered these operations, leaving families in a state of anxiety and uncertainty as they await news of their loved ones.
