The verdict was delivered by judge M. Rajalakshmi, just days after Gnanasekaran was found guilty of multiple charges, including rape.Alongside the prison term,he has also been fined ₹90,000.
The case has drawn considerable attention,particularly due to allegations linking Gnanasekaran to prominent political figures in Tamil Nadu,including Deputy Chief Minister udhayanidhi Stalin. The victim reported the incident to the Kottapuram WomenS Police Station on December 24, detailing a harrowing experience where she was threatened with death while walking on campus with a male friend.
