Political Tensions Rise as Mamata Banerjee Faces Criticism Over Job Recruitment Issues
In a heated exchange, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has come under fire from opposition leader Suvendu adhikari regarding the ongoing job recruitment controversies. Adhikari claims that the Chief Minister’s handling of the situation, especially concerning the review petitions related to the eligibility lists for job candidates,is flawed and politically motivated. He argues that Banerjee has consistently ignored issues like OMR tampering and rank manipulation, allegedly to protect corrupt party members and their relatives.
Adhikari emphasized that the review petitions will only hold weight if the state government presents a valid list of eligible and ineligible candidates to the court. He provocatively suggested that if Banerjee truly cares for the unqualified, she should announce civic teacher positions. Furthermore, he questioned her authority to issue notifications regarding the School Service Commission (SSC), an autonomous body, without consulting its chairman and secretary. This, he claims, undermines the Supreme Court’s orders, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the recruitment process in West Bengal.
