Supreme Court upholds SSC Job Cancellations, 25,735 Affected
In a significant ruling, the Supreme Court of India has upheld the cancellation of the entire 2016 SSC panel, affecting 25,735 candidates. The court dismissed petitions from those deemed ineligible, stating that they must return their salaries and will not be allowed to participate in the new recruitment process. This decision stems from discrepancies identified in the OMR sheets recovered by the CBI, which highlighted the candidates’ ineligibility.
During the hearings, the affected individuals argued their case, claiming they were not ineligible. Though, the court firmly stated that there was no reason to reconsider their applications. Senior advocate mukul Rohatgi raised concerns about the livelihoods of these candidates, particularly regarding their inability to secure teaching positions. In response, the bench, led by Justices Sanjay Kumar and K.V. Vishwanathan, clarified that opportunities for eligible candidates to continue teaching remain available. This ruling underscores the court’s commitment to maintaining integrity in the recruitment process, leaving many candidates grappling with uncertainty about their futures.
