National women’s Commission Unhappy with Police Response in Anubrata Mondal Case
The National Women’s Commission (NWC) has expressed dissatisfaction with the response from the Birbhum police regarding the Anubrata Mondal case. Following the viral audio clip of the Bolpur police station’s officer-in-charge using abusive language towards the mother and wife of a police personnel, the NWC reached out to the director General of Police to inquire about the actions taken. Though,NWC member Archana Majumdar found the police superintendent’s reply inadequate. The letter stated that the SDPO of Bolpur had interrogated Mondal based on the complaints, recorded the statements, and initiated an investigation against him.
In the wake of these developments, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leveraging the Anubrata Mondal controversy to mobilize public support.Under the leadership of Suvendu Adhikari, the BJP plans to hold a “Women’s Honor March” in Bolpur on Monday, with banners already adorning the town.Additionally, another march is scheduled for June 16 in Kaliganj, Nadia, further emphasizing the party’s commitment to addressing women’s issues in the region.
